THIS year's Camp Xtra week of sport and activities was launched this week complete with new activities including computer programming.

Bookings are now being taken for the club at Devizes School for eight to 15-year-olds which will run from August 7 to 11.

Camp Xtra co-ordinator Paul Wickens said: "Following the success of Camp Xtra 2016 we have another varied and exciting programme to offer.

We have added a couple of new activities for this year’s camp which we believe will add another varied and exciting programme for this year.

"In addition to the many activities on offer such as animation, trampolining and cookery we have two new activities, a return of basketball and code club which will give young people the chance to write their own computer programmes."

He said the camp was designed to develop children’s skills and techniques and to provide opportunities for youngsters to experience new activities and make new friends.

Devizes School headteacher Phil Bevan said: "Paul Wickens aims to build on last year’s success and has put together a great programme for this year, an exciting mix of creative and sporting activities.

"I know that children have a brilliant time during Camp Xtra and come away with great memories and new skills. I wish this year’s participants a very happy week."

A brochure listing all the activities was launched on Monday. An early bird discount is available for those booking before the end of June.
