DEVIZES Food & Drink Festival chairman Philippa Morgan is delighted that her swansong event provided something for all the family and is urging new people to come forward to continue its success.

She is standing down after three years at the helm but has gone out on a high with the 13th food and drink festival which ended at the weekend.

Ms Morgan said: "I have had a great time and have thoroughly enjoyed the last three years. I'd like to think that the festival has gone from strength to strength and I hope that it continues to do so.

"The Committee is looking for more people to get involved to ensure that the festival can continue to offer a fun experience to the people of Devizes in 2018."

Foodie fans had two weeks of sampling food from all over the world in a variety of settings from Erlestoke Prison to a cookery farm near Bromham.

Ms Morgan said: "The 13th Devizes Food & Drink Festival took place over two weeks and offered a wide range of events to appeal to all tastes and age groups.

"The Food Market offered an eclectic mix of street food with something for everyone, including vegetarians, vegans and those with gluten intolerance. There was entertainment to keep adults and children amused and everyone had a great time.

"The fabulous Sicilian buffet hosted by Gianni Campanella sold out within a week of the tickets going on sale. Over a hundred guests enjoyed the authentic Sicilian food, lovingly prepared and served by Gianni and his team."

She also thanked Devizes chef Peter Vaughan who recreated a Regency supper with dishes which would have been familiar to Jane Austen.

Newly opened Sprout Cafe joined in the fun and gave guests an insight in the making of coffee and the chance to sample different types. Another newcomer was Times Square cafe who hosted a Mussel Madness evening. The Farm Cookery School in Netherstreet ran a Beef and Beer event which was combined with a family based open day.
