ONCE again Urchfont Players staged a successful pantomime at the end of January. Henry's Magic Jam, written by Ian McCutcheon and first performed in 2005, brought the usual (in Fairy Nuff’s words) fun and joy, songs, an evil villain, a hero, a dame....and lots more.

Four of the original cast returned: writer Ian McCutcheon revived his role as the villain’s right hand man Kreepe; Gill Hill gave her usual accomplished performance as Fairy Nuff; Robina Vaux was very convincing as villain Grunge and John Seavers took the part of jam maker Henry much to the delight of his faithful supporters.

Three performances attracted an audience of nearly 250 who were treated to an entertaining and fun show and there were plenty of newcomers.

Kirsten Higgins gave an outstanding performance as Billie, supported by the cheeky young James Elliot as Hopsack, the talking dog. The part of Anna was played by Millie Robinson whose rendition of Tomorrow from the musical Annie was truly memorable. Brian Dibble delivered a very amusing performance as Bodger, Kreepe’s side kick.

The Jammy Dodgers (Bea Yates, Jenson Greenstreet, Ben Everson and Reuben Brown) excelled with their energy and enthusiasm.

Kimberley Brown, one of our regulars, delivered a fantastic performance as the dame, Lucy Lastic, which included some interesting audience participation. Our hero and principal boy Tom Quicksilver, played by Anthea Donald, pulled off some very amusing moments with romantic interest Anna.

Special thanks go to Valerie and Graham Day, who joined in on the chorus but more importantly stage managed the performances, along with Jason Lampard who was responsible for lighting and Sue McCutcheon who had the unenviable role of prompter

Bill Donald brought new energy to the show in his debut role of director and successfully achieved a good balance of fun songs and sound effects.

If you would like take part and join in on the fun then please of future shows call either Gill Hill (01380 840794) or Bill Donald (01380 848113).
