FUNDRAISER Joe Hughes who loves to make his house stand out at Christmas with ever more inventive displays of lights has raised £542.92 for Wiltshire Air Ambulance.

Mr Hughes, 60, who with his wife Jenny, has been decorating their home in Waylands, Devizes for 13 years presented was at the helicopter base at police headquarters in Devizes last week to present the cash.

He said his main motivator for doing the lights that this year included a number of new lasers was to see the looks on children's faces when they visit but he was keen to also raise money for the charity which saves many lives every year.

He was delighted with the amount raised as back in December he was worried he might not meet last year's total of £500. He said putting up the lights was a lot of hard work but it had become a tradition in the town.

He said: "I have eight grand children of my own and I love to see the joy on the children's faces. It makes it all worthwhile."
