TRUSTEES of the Market Lavington Community Hall are thrilled after hosting the first ever New Year’s Eve party at the venue.

The party, which was a first for the people of Market Lavington, saw over 140 people pack into the hall in St Mary’s Road to enjoy some live music as well as sinking their teeth into a buffet, all organised by trustee Ted Osborn.

Mr Osborn said: “It was a family party with 129 adults and 19 under 18's attending, the highlight was 2 hours of live music from the brilliant Upbeat Beatles, and we also had a disco and a buffet.

The night was an amazing success with everyone sending us wonderful feedback with many saying it was the best NYE ever. As a result it is likely a repeat event will take place in 2017.”

There are hopes that the party will become an ongoing event in the village, but the decision will be made at a meeting of the hall trust.

“I am expecting to repeat it this year but the decision will be made at the next trust meeting later in January. The Upbeat Beatles played the New Year in and counted down and followed by playing Auld Lang Syne with everyone on the dance floor joining in,” added Mr Osborn.

The trustee, and founder of the Market Lavington Music and Comedy Club, is looking forward to another successful year at the hall, already having organised a number of performances.

“The second year for the club is extremely exciting with such a range on quality acts. I think it is impossible to pick a highlight but u suppose the festival in a day on July 1st will be something special and has involved a huge amount of planning. We even have Stephanie Millward as guest of honour,” he said.
