SCHOOLS in Devizes and Lavington did their bit for Children In Need on Friday by baking cakes and holding a pyjama party to help youngsters less fortunate than themselves.

At Devizes School the sixth form organised a pyjama day and raised £113.35. Sixth form Ambassador Olivia Milburn said: "We as Devizes Sixth Form strongly believe in getting involved for a good cause such as Children In Need.

"We put on a Pyjama Day for the Sixth Form that generated an incredible turnout of people in their Pyjamas and donations. This year has been one of our most successful Pyjama Days thanks to great organisation and spirit. We hope to continue events such as these in the future for our local charity Julia's House."

At Lavington there were plenty of goodies to help raise funds when students and staff went baking mad for their Pudsey Bear Bake Sale.

Assistant head Anna Woodman said: "Gingerbread Pudseys, cookies, biscuit bears, rocky road, chocolate muffins, Smartie cakes and fairy cakes were made and donated by students and staff and raised £188."

She said a Spotacular non uniform day supported by all staff and students was expected to add considerably more to the school's total sum for the charity.
