FOODIES flocked to Marlborough on Sunday to indulge their taste buds in the latest treats and helped to raise thousands of pounds for Cancer Research.

Organisers hope the Feast of Food held at Marlborough College will have raised more than £12,000 once all the profits have been counted.

More than 60 stalls offering everything from from savoury snacks to sweet delights were set up inside while the Marlborough Apple Day marquee was kept busy outdoors.

Richard Paget from My Apple Juice was pleased that the two events had joined forces this year and delighted by the many litres of apple juice he was able to create during the day.

Children from Kennet Valley primary school brought along kilos of fallen apples that Mr Paget pressed and they then took away to sell for school funds.

He said: "It was good to be able to show people how their apple juice is produced. So many apples in this country just fall on the ground and are wasted."

Event organiser Claire Wilson from Marlborough Cancer Research Committee was delighted that numbers were up on last year and the event was able to support other organisations such as Wiltshire Wildlife Trust and Wiltshire Beekeepers Association.

A large number of people volunteered to help run the day and allow it to run smoothly.

The committee is now preparing for A Marlborough Christmas to be held on December 17 at Norwood Hall, Marlborough College when there will be 40 gift stalls, food and drink, live music and Santa's grotto.

Over the past 18 years the Marlborough committee has raised around £850,000 for Cancer Research.
