DRAMA teacher Stuart MacFarlane has launched a new theatre school in Devizes and is looking for talented youngsters to take part in its first production.

Auditions for Mac's Theatre School's performance of Beauty And The Beast will take place on November 2 but anyone interested in taking part need to register by next Tuesday (25).

Mr MacFarlane, who is a teacher at Devizes School but has set the theatre group up as a private venture, wants to attract young people aged from 11-21, who want the chance to perform. Mr MacFarlane said: "We are looking for actors, dancers, musicians, tech and backstage to help with the show.

"It is intended that a drama club will continue after the show, theatre workshops will be held locally and trips to see shows will also take place.

"The theatre school wants to produce high quality, professional shows in Devizes and would love young people to join. We welcome members from Devizes and the surrounding area, secondary school age and beyond.

"We are also seeking any local sponsors who would like to help out with this new venture.

"It is an exciting time, we want to produce high quality, professional entertainment for the Devizes community at an affordable price. There is much young talent in Devizes, we want to give them the opportunity to shine."

It is hoped the group will meet at St Andrew's Church, Devizes with rehearsals on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7pm to 9pm.

The show will be staged from February 16 to 18.
