SCI-FI fantasy will come to Devizes on Saturday when Mayor Jane Burton opens the first of two days of children's books festivals.

Mrs Burton will open the event at Devizes Library at 10am when a Back-To-The-Future car will take centre stage along with people dressed in sci-fi costumes and working Star Wars style Droids will be in attendance.

The opening will be followed by a creative writing sessions with children's author David Johnson for children age seven or over and then at 11.30am there will be a children's costume competition to be judged in three age groups. The contest is being sponsored by Fancy Pantz fancy dress shop, Devizes.

Later Ian Ambrose will show children how to create book cover artwork and finally at 1pm Luke Palmer and David Johnson will show how to turn a book into a film story.

The second day of festival, organised by Wiltshire Council, Devizes Books and Crystal Quest Books, will be the following Saturday, October 29, from 10am to 2pm, when there will be a children's writing contest, talks by authors Stewart Foster and Nicky Dee and a question and answer session with writers and book sellers.
