CUBS from Devizes organised a tea party at a home for the elderly as part of their work on dementia.

Members of 6th Devizes Cubs were taking part in the Scout Association's A Million Hands initiative which aims to get half a million people involved in social issues chosen by young people by 2018.

Cub Amelia Pullen came up with the idea of organising a tea party at the BUPA care home in Market Lavington. Cub leader Scott Coleman said: "I worked with Amelia, and she came up with ideas of singing to the residents and I suggested campfire songs, talking with them and party games, so we played pass the parcel.

"Amelia was so proud of her idea coming together that when I gave out letters with the date that I'd arranged with the home, she took a copy to show her headmaster and teacher.

Amelia along with Michael, George, Max, Charlie, Jenson and Rian entertained the elderly residents and had them joining in, waving their hands to the music, passing the parcel enjoying the prizes, having fun with the ball game and loving talking with my slightly apprehensive Cubs."
