Police are appealing for information following an accident which closed the A361 near Devizes for four hours yesterday.

A Wiltshire police spokesman said today: "We received a call at 1.07pm, following a collision between a Mitsuibish L200 and a Lexus IS200 on the A361 Beckhampton straight at Bishops Cannings, near Devizes.

"As a result of the collision, the Lexus caught fire.

"The male driver of the Lexus, a 43-year-old man from Marlborough, suffered a broken leg, while the male driver of the Mitsubishi, a 46-year-old man from Devizes, also sustained a leg injury. Neither injury was described as life threatening or life changing, however, the 43-year-old was taken to Southmead Hospital by air ambulance.

"The road was closed for nearly four hours to allow for the scene to be cleared."

PC Will Ayres, of the Roads Policing Unit, said: "We would like to appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision, who has not already spoken to police, to contact us.

"We are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have been walking in the area around the time, or anyone who witnessed any pedestrians in the area of Baltic Farm at the time of the collision."

Anyone with information should call the Roads Policing Unit on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously via 0800 555 111.
