A CHOIR which has raised more than £30,000 for charities including Julia's House is to stage a concert in Devizes on October 8 for church funds.

The Philomel Singers will perform at St John's Church at 7.30pm and hope its programme of songs that range from traditional to modern will appeal to all.

A spokesman for the Trowbridge based group of female singers said: "We are delighted to be presenting this concert in aid of St John’s Church funds.

"The choir is delighted that the choir of St John’s Church will also be performing and also two very talented young violinists, Katherine and Rachel Stonham, will be contributing to the evening.

"The choir is looking forward to performing in Devizes and welcoming a full Church on the night to enjoy an entertaining evening of music and song."

The Philomel Singers perform at three or four concerts every year to raise money for local and national charities and have raised well over £30,000. Recent beneficiaries include Wiltshire Air Ambulance, Julia’s House, The Royal British Legion, Children’s Hospice South West, Dorothy House, and Help for Heroes.

There will be free entry to the concert but a retiring collection will be made. Refreshments will be available during the interval and all profits will go to St. John’s Church fund.
