BOATERS upset about new mooring rules brought in by the Canal & River Trust are to stage a protest on Thursday (15) when boss Richard Parry visits Devizes.
Carol Krebs from The Kennet & Avon Boaters action group said: "We will be there to protest about trust's draconian and punitive enforcement
policy against boaters without a home mooring.
"Please join us at 4pm to 8pm to show Mr Parry our opposition to the trust's enforcement policy, which has seen so many live-aboard boaters on the K&A having their licences restricted to six months, families threatened with losing their homes and being pressured to give up their homes, boaters
being forced to travel increasing distances to get to work, and boat children's education and welfare suffering due to the long distances they
are being forced to travel to school."
She said the protest would be peaceful and child friendly and involve people with banners and placards. Leaflets will be handed out to passers-by.
