HUNDREDS of wargame enthusiasts from across the world descended on Devizes at the weekend to take part in Attack!

The annual event drew people from all over the UK but one player from Chicago flew in especially and another from New Zealand times a family visit to co-incide with the show at Devizes School.

The event was staged by Devizes and District Wargames Club and offered competitions, demonstration games and a wide range of traders.

Club secretary Philip Mackie said: “We have been proud to present a show that people wish to come to year after year one annual visitor comes from Belgium to play in a competition.

“Although numbers were slightly down on last year the traders reported increased sales and the participation games were popular with visitors of all ages.

"We always present a trophy for the best participation game and this year it went to another local club, The Boscombe Down and Amesbury Wargames Club.”

The event also boosted Julia's House hospice appeal with a raffle raising more than £300 for the charity which will open a new children's hospice in Devizes next year.

Mr Mackie thanked traders donated prizes for the raffle.
