FOUR teenage friends from Devizes have just released a single on iTunes and are now preparing for an acoustic gig at a pub in the town on July 30.

The indie-rock band 98 Reasons will perform at The Bell By The Green as part of a tour of local venues.

But Sam Bishop, James Godwin, Finley Trusler and Austin Coleman, who are all aged 17, hope eventually to make a career out of their music.

For the moment vocalist and keyboard player Sam and lead guitarist James are studying in the sixth form of Devizes School while drummer Austin goes to Hardenhuish in Chippenham and bass guitarist Finley is an apprentice at Analytical Technology and Control in Market Lavington.

Sam said: "We play 80s songs like Rick Astley and the Proclaimers, as well as current music from the likes of Panic! at the Disco and Bastille. Our single Never Too Late, an indie-rock song that is styled like an 80s rock tune with a catchy chorus, has been released on iTunes.

"In the future, we would like to be playing all over Wiltshire and release an album.

"Recently we supported All Ears Avow in Devizes whilst on their tour across the country. It was an incredible and eye-opening experience that gave us a real insight into the music world."

The band has been inspired by the group Sunset Suns which is a four-piece UK and Australian rock/indie band. Sam said: "They are a band that play similar music to us and their success and storytelling through music is something we model ourselves on.

"We'd love a career in music, especially performing or even progressing as a band to play bigger and better venues."
