A TEAM from Hayden’s Bakery in Devizes are preparing to take on the 52-mile White Horse Challenge after hitting their fundraising target.

The team of six from the bakery will be setting off from the Wiltshire Police HQ in London Road on Saturday (July 9) morning at 7am to make their way to Marlborough where they will camp overnight before making the return journey the next day.

Mark Greenaway, 54, warehouse and inventory section leader at Hayden’s, said: “I have done the challenge before and it is good. At the moment I think it is a bit daunting for the team as they are novices at this sort of thing. It will be good for them to take part in. The team will get to see some great sights, parts of Wiltshire that they may not usually get to.”

The team of walkers are taking part in the challenge to raise money for Wiltshire Air Ambulance, already surpassing their target.

Mr Greenaway said: “Their target was to raise £1,000 however we are now pleased to confirm that this has been matched with a large donation from the company, so the total amount will now be £2,000 for the Wiltshire Air Ambulance fund..

As well as taking part in the challenge, Hayden’s will also be handing out cakes to the walkers along the route on both days of the walk.

The team from Hayden’s is made up of Mark Greenaway, Sue Bodman, Sarah Smith, Sonja Ockwell, Jack Billing and Tibi Dori with support from Leo Woods and James Smith.
