ERLESTOKE Golf Club welcomed crowds of well-dressed pupils from Lavington School as they celebrated their end of year prom.

Arriving in a wide variety of fancy and imaginative ways, the 137 pupils from the school arrived at the club on Friday to come together for one last time before receiving their results and marking the end of their five years at the school.

Becky Dunn, events organiser for Lavington School, said: “The evening went really well. It was a lovely event and very enjoyable. This is the third year we have held the prom at Erlestoke Golf Club, it is such a lovely venue. Everyone looked fantastic, the boys looked great in their suits and the girls had such a great mix of dresses. One boy, Max Sutton, came in a kilt and won the best dressed award for the evening.”

As well as the usual arrivals in fast cars and tractors, some pupils pushed the boat out to arrive in style at the golf club.

“The arrivals were fantastic, one student arrived in a helicopter which was amazing, another group burst out the back of a white van with balloons being let off, so we may end up finding some soon,” added Mrs Dunn.

Before sitting down for the buffet, pupils listened to a speech from their head of Year 11, Alison Silto.

“I would like Alison to be mentioned, she had laryngitis and still managed to give her speech which was wonderful. Overall it was just a lovely evening. As the organiser it was really satisfying to stand back and see everyone enjoying themselves,” Mrs Dunn said.
