TRADERS in Sidmouth Street hope to put their area of Devizes on the map when they stage their second festival.

This year's Sidmouth Street Festival will run from 11am on July 9 when the whole road will be closed so stalls and music can take over.

Town councillor and trader John Parker said: "After last year's great success it was always going to hard to repeat but we learnt a lot and I think that this year will be just as good. We do, of course, have to be helped by the weather gods.

"I would like to thank the officers and staff of the town council, Wadworth, Sainsbury’s and butchers Walter Rose for all the help they have given us.

"It would not be possible without them. It really does give a true sense of community."

Last year's festival was opened by Lord Sidmouth but this time around the Devizes Town Band will get the party started at 11am and will then be follwoed by Barry Dean, Antigua Jo, The Heartbeats, People Like us and finally at 4.15pm by the Bird Dogs.

The bands will perform in Albion Place while stalls and sideshows will be in the road. The stalls will include a classic car display, food, clothing and gift stalls. There will also be a Pimm's bar and another licensed outlet.
