SLIMMERS had it in the bag on Saturday when they took part in a fundraising initiative which gave them the chance to throw away all the clothes they are far too big.

Members led by Kim Heath were at Nursteed School for the Big Slimming World Clothes Throw 2016 to raise money for Cancer Research UK by giving the clothes to its charity shops.

Mrs Heath said that each bag is potentially worth £30. So the 108 bags collected could net around £3,240.

Mrs Heath, who runs the weekly Wednesday Nursteed Primary School Slimming World group, said: “My members are so confident that they’ll maintain their fantastic weight losses, that when I told them about the Big Slimming World Clothes Throw they couldn’t wait to spring-clean their wardrobes and donate them to a good cause.

“Lots of people don’t know that keeping a healthy weight could reduce the risk of developing ten different kinds of cancer, as well as other health conditions including diabetes and heart disease.

"This is why Slimming World chose Cancer Research UK as our national charity partner. We really hope the bag collection will go some way towards spreading that message, as well as raising lots of money for Cancer Research UK."
