PEOPLE worrying about the affect cancer has on their lives will have the opportunity to meet with a mobile team from Macmillan Cancer Support in Devizes.

A team of cancer information specialists will be stopping off in Devizes to answer questions from the public, provide support and inform people about local cancer services. The team will also be joined by Dorothy House Hospice on the day, with the service being open to anyone, no matter what the concern is.

Mary Mountford-Lister, Macmillan Cancer information and support specialist on the mobile unit, said: “Receiving a terminal diagnosis of cancer is a very emotionally difficult thing to deal with, for carers and loved ones as well as the patient. During what can be a confusing and distressing time, we want to make sure you have all the information and support you need. If you have questions you want answered or if you just want to talk, come and see us- no appointment is needed and anyone is welcome.”

The visit, as part of Dying Matters Awareness Week, will be encouraging people in Devizes to visit, with information on diagnosis, information on end-of-life care, advance care planning and local support services.

Mrs Mountford-Lister added: “We’re also here for anyone else affected by cancer, no matter what your worry or concern. We can provide information on a range of issues including treatments, financial advice, exercise, getting back to work, or what local services may be on offer to you. You can even just stop by for a chat.”

The Macmillan mobile unit will be parked outside The Bear Hotel in Market Place on May 12 from 9am until the market closes.
