RETIRED farmer Anthony Tye and his wife Audrey, a former primary school secretary, are celebrating their diamond wedding today in Devizes.

Mr Tye, 89, and his wife, 90, met at a dance in a village hall and were married in Worton and Marston Church on April 28, 1956.

Mr Tye went to work for his father-in-law Oliver Maggs at End Farm, Marston and later took over the farm. His wife was secretary of Worton and Marston Primary School.

The couple have a son and three daughters and five grown-up grandchildren.

Both Mr and Mrs Tye are keen churchgoers and had long terms at members of the Parochial Church Council in Erlestoke.

Farming has been a major part of their lives and their are still members of Poulshot Farming Club and get to meetings whenever they can.

They will celebrate their anniversary in The Bear Hotel where they held their wedding reception 60 years ago.
