DEVIZES sixth former Martha Baker has had her animated film voted out of this world.

Martha, 17, has created a film called Stargazer and now it will be sent to astronaut Time Peake in space for judging as part of a short list of potential winners of a national contest.

Last year she spent a week at a BFI animation camp in Bristol while studying A level film studies at Devizes School.

During her time there she created her film and entered it a contest organised by Intofilm. It was chosen to go on the shortlist as one of five films that will be judged in the 16-19 age group.

She said: "I entered the competition just for fun and didn't think for a minute I had a chance of being short listed." She is excited about receiving the results which should arrive within the next couple of weeks.

But she has already impress new Devizes headteacher Phil Bevan with her entry. Mr Bevan, who started his school career as a physics teacher, watched her film during a lesson with A level students last week and was full of praise for her work.
