DEVIZES Leos - the junior branch of the Lions - had a roaring success on their hands when they organised a race night and fish and chip supper for charity.

The youngsters raised £200 for Alzheimer's Support after they did all the planning themselves for the event at the Wyvern Club, Devizes.

Leos chairman Ezra Brigland and some fellow members handed the cheque over to Carol Gazzard deputy manager of the Sidmouth Street Club and then got involved in some of the craft activities laid on for members.

Alzheimer’s Support’s chair of trustees Janet Dore attended the race evening and cheque presentation. She said she had been very impressed with the young people on both occasions. She said: "The kids ran the whole evening and they did an amazing job. They had support from the Lions who attended but really did not need much help. They are the next generation and are very public spirited."

Sidmouth Street Club is run by Alzehimer's Support and is open four days a week for up to eight members and provides a warm, stimulating and friendly environment.
