THIS year's Devizes Food and Drink Festival will kick off with a wine and food challenge on May 13 and end ten days later with drinking in the dark.

Inbetween there will be food events for all palates and the chance to dine in some places that would normally be off limits. One of these is a pop up restaurant at Erlestoke Prison on May 17.

But no tickets are needed for what many consider to be the main event of the festival - the Grand Festival Market - on May 14. Organisers this year are putting on extra side shows and stalls to make sure there is something for all the family in the Market Place.

A number of events have been inspired by TV shows including the Devizes Food Festival Bake-Off to be held at the Nursteed Centre at 10am on May 14 from 9.45am.

The White Bear is joining in the festival for the first time and will host A Taste of France evening on May 16. The menu will include a mussels, cassoulet and tarte Normande.

Food will move from French to Italian when a Sicilian Festival is held at Dolcipani cafe at 7.30pm on May 17. For those who prefer more traditional British food a bangers and a pint evening will be on the same night at the Southgate Inn.

The following evening people can continue their travels at A Night In Vienna at The Bistro.

On May 20 a prohibition party will be staged at the town hall from 7.30pm before the curtain comes down at The Vaults on May 22 when people will sample different beers without being able to see them.
