DEVIZES disaster chef Krystle Hillier was told by celebrity judge Raymond Blanc she was the messiest cook he had ever met when she competed in the finals of a national contest.

Mrs Hillier, 30, was chosen as one of the worst cooks in the country to compete over six weeks for a £4,000 prize in a contest organised by Kenwood.

On Saturday in the live finals at Avequia in London she was watched by Mr Blanc, British Bake Off finalist Miranda Gore Browne and Kenwood development chef Martin Johns as she and other finalists had to cook a two course meal.

Mrs Hillier, who is a nurse and mother of three young children, said: "Raymond Blanc was laughing at me and saying I was the messiest cook he had ever seen. But I loved every minute of it. Not many people can say they have made their own pasta and cooked a souffle for Raymond."

She said she had learnt a lot during the competition but still did not rate herself as a great cook. She said: "I found out I was better at writing than cooking as I really loved keeping my blog during the contest."

Although she did not win the top prize she got to keep the Kenwood mixer worth £449.99 she has used throughout the competition.
