SCHOOLS and clubs in Devizes are preparing for a Christmas Tree festival which will be judged tomorrow (Friday) as part of a fundraising bazaar.

Organisers Omens Ad Unum Devizes hope crowds will turn out for the event at St John's Church and help to raise thousands of pounds for children's charities.

Shoppers will be able to vote for their favourite tree and those getting the most votes will benefit from a donation of £400 from an anonymous supporter which has allowed prizes to be given in four categories.

There will also be a raffle with prizes valued at more than £3,000. Santa will arrive with elves on a carriage drawn by a percheron at 3pm and festivities will continue until 8pm.

Around 30 decorated trees will be on display and there will be a wide selection of decorated stalls selling traditional gifts and food.

Money raised will go to Julia's House hospice for children, Canon's House, Rowdeford Trust, Devizes Opportunity Centre, Bradbury Manor House, Young Carers and St John's Church.
