Wiltshire Wildlife Trust brought the country to the town event in Devizes, with the Market Place being packed with experiences and activities as well as food, cooking, children’s activities and demonstrations.

Membership manager, Michele Gard, said “Locals and visitors alike seemed to really enjoy meeting our rare breed Herdwick sheep and Dexter cattle and it was great to be able to demonstrate how important they are to maintaining our Magnificent Meadows. The day was a great success”.

Along with meeting some of the trust's grazing team of cows and sheep from its farm, visitors were able to have a go at some country crafts and explore their creative side with natural art, identifying wildlife and find out more about growing their own food on Saturday.

Staff from the trust were there to take visitors through various projects that the trust has, including Magnificent Meadows and Wild Connections.

Magnificent Meadows is the UK’s largest partnership project that aims to preserve the vanishing wildflower meadows and grasslands.

Wild Connections, launched in July 2015, enables people of all ages and backgrounds to connect with, enjoy, learn about and care for their local wildlife and natural heritage.

Wiltshire Wildlife Trust’s vision is to create a sustainable future for wildlife and people combining the management of 40 nature reserves and working with local communities to promote sustainable living.

The trust is supported by 18,000 members and over 1,000 volunteers. For more information visit www.wiltshirewildlife.org
