A HIGH risk high wire act went from scary to dangerous for the Bullzini family in Devizes today (Sunday) as wet weather made conditions treacherous.

Chris Bull and his wife Pheobe were determined not to let the people of Devizes down and went ahead with the world premiere of their Equilibrius act on The Green as part of the town's international street festival.

Hundreds of people of all ages watched in awe as the couple performed a routine that included a number of fantastic feats while suspended eight metres off the ground.

Mr Bull said of the weather conditions: "They made it 50 times more difficult but we didn't want to disappoint the people of Devizes.

"We had to make a few adjustments and I did think at one point I might not have been able to do the diagonal ascent as that is one of the most difficult bits. But I went ahead. I did lose traction at one point and had to do a little shuffle."

The music tent was also a popular venue as first local boy Jon Amor proved he was a popular as ever. Amor first rose to prominence on the British blues circuit in the early nineties as one of the guitarists of The Hoax.

He was joined on Sunday by blues musician Pete Gage who is another regular on the Wiltshire music scene. Crowds gathered and boogied in the rain.

They were followed into the music tent by The Jolenes who are the UK's only all-girl bluegrass band.

Some youngsters did not know whether to be scared or enthralled by the Jurassic Jockeys who roamed the green. Stilt walkers brought alive skeletons of dinosaurs but the giant sets of bones were a little too much for some small children who fled the invasion.

The Bullzinis will be back in action at 7.45pm this evening (Sunday).
