NETBALL lover Ella Harding has shot to stardom after she uploaded a picture to Facebook and did not even realise she was entering a competition.

But Ms Harding, 40, from All Cannings, had the picture of herself playing netball chosen by Sport England as part of its The Girl Can poster campaign.

It will appear in shopping centres all over the country. On Sunday the first version appeared as an electronic poster in The Brunel Centre, Swindon.

She said: "I couldn't believe I had won. I saw something on Facebook and thought it would be a bit of fun to upload a picture and then I got an email to say I had won. I didn't even realise I had entered."

She went with her daughter Lola, ten, to Swindon on Sunday to see what it looked like. She said: "It was very strange to see myself but I think it is a fantastic campaign.

"I have always loved sport but had played netball for a long, long time until I went along to Devizes Netball Club in 2010.

"I am now a regular shooter in Team Two for the club and really love it. I think my daughter thinks it is a bit embarrassing especially when I asked her to take a photo of me by the poster."

Ms Harding, who works in IT for Wiltshire Council, is keen to get more women back playing sport and said the back to netball course run by the Devizes club showed how women of all ages and abilities could enjoy playing.

She is enjoying her moment of fame and said: "My Facebook has gone mad since this was announced."

A spokesman for This Girl Can said: "It's a celebration of active women up and down the country who are doing their thing no matter how well they do it, how they look or even how red their face gets."
