MORE than 150 youngsters from Devizes hit all the right notes when they took part in a musical event in St Mary's Church.

Children from four primary schools took part in the St Mary's Trust School's Concert in front of parents and friends.

The pupils of Wansdyke, Southbroom Infants, St Joseph's and Nursteed performed pieces of work they have been practising all term.

The programme included singing and poems about the seaside from Southbroom Infants followed by traditional folk and modern songs sung by a 50-strong choir from Wansdyke which was led by teacher Heather Flower on her guitar.

St Joseph’s choir sang songs being prepared for a Superchoir event and Nursteed School performed some tales from ancient Greece, including the minotaur in the labrynth.

Penny Price Jones, chairman of the national Association of Teachers of Singing and joint organizer of the event, led everyone in a welcome song and rounded off the concert with more group singing before everyone went home.

Organisers were so pleased with the second running of the event decided its popularity warranted it becoming an annual event.
