SCHOOLBOY Kieran Perrett had the honour of officially opening a fun day at Devizes Fire Station after winning a poster competition.
His publicity design must have helped to do the trick as scores of people turned out to see what goes on behind the doors of the station in Southbroom Road.
Kieran, seven, who is a pupil at Wansdyke School, Devizes, officially opened the event at 10am on Saturday after winning a contest organised by Wiltshire Fire & Rescue Service.
Visitors were able to see the different appliances based in Devizes plus others from elsewhere in the county. They also saw a number of demonstrations including road traffic collision extrication and had the chance to try out equipment for themselves.
There was also a football shootout and a raffle.
Watch Manager Tom Brolan said: “Kieran designed a brilliant poster for the event. We invited all of the local primary schools to send in entries, and it was tough to make a choice. Our thanks go to everyone who did a drawing.
Money raised will go to the Fire Fighters Charity and Devizes & District Opportunity Centre.
