The events included a 75m sprint, a 600m run, a standing long jump and a Vortex Throw which involves throwing a foam ball.

The times and distances for each school were then added together, with All Cannings School A team coming first, Urchfont School in second and Redlands School in Chippenham coming third.

Southbroom Junior School white team were given the determination award trophy.

Mike Rose, School games officer said: “It was a great day, spirits were high and the competition ran very smoothly.

"The schools can now build on their positive experience through intra school competitions and get more children involved in the sport of athletics."

The three schools now qualify for the Youth Games at Marlborough College on July 8 where they will compete against the other winning teams from across Wiltshire.
