Cardwave’s charity donation for June has been chosen by customer services administrator Lisa Jones.

Lisa decided to split her donation between two charities close to her heart: Crohn’s and Colitis UK and The Royal Air Forces Association.

Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis are the two main forms of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). Lisa was diagnosed with Colitis in 2009 so understands how important research into this condition is. Symptoms vary from person to person - and usually over time. IBD is a chronic (long term) disease and if you have IBD you will probably have periods of good health (remission) and then relapses or 'flare-ups' when the symptoms get worse.

Lisa commented “ A lot can be done with medication and surgery to help keep symptoms under control and to reduce the chance of a flare-up but any help with research to find a cure would be great”.

Lisa’s second charity to benefit from a donation is The Royal Air Force Association. Lisa’s father was in the RAF and her husband is currently serving. Receiving no government contributions, their work is completely funded by the generosity of their members and through vital donations from supporters to the Wings Appeal. The Royal Air Forces Association is committed to providing confidential, professional and fair services to members of the wider RAF family from the youngest recruit to the oldest veteran and their families. Ongoing training and support for welfare volunteers and staff ensures services are consistent and of the highest possible standard. All will be treated with dignity and respect at all times.

A donation of just £25 could help someone with severe mobility problems to travel to a respite care break.
