DEVIZES schoolgirl Lissy Trevena is now sporting a new haircut after having her long locks chopped off to be made into a wig for a child with cancer.

The 10-year-old, of Ferguson Road, had her hair cut short on Saturday at Diffusion Hair Salon so she could donate it to The Little Princess Trust.

The charity makes wigs out of human hair, free of charge, for children have lost their own hair through cancer treatment and other illnesses.

Lissy, who is a pupil at Wansdyke School, said: “I have decided to have my hair styled into a pixie cut so that a child who has lost their hair, can have a wig made out of the hair that I'm having chopped off.”

Mum Zowie Trevena said she is roud of what her daughter has done and the money she has raised.

Ms Trevena said: “Having her hair cut off was quite a big thing for her but Lissy said she would rather give it to someone who needs it more than her.

“Each wig costs £350 to make and Lissy has already raised over £500 which will be split between The Little Princess Trust and the Shania Burton Fund for a seven year old girl who has leukaemia.”
