DID you manage to pick up a free bouquet of flowers in Marlborough and Devizes today?

Burbage Flower Club has been out in Marlborough and the surrounding villages over the last two days celebrating National Flower Arrangers Day with lonely bouquets.

Twelve bouquets wrapped in green paper with a bright yellow bow were placed throughout Marlborough, Burbage, Bedwyn and Pewsey yesterday (APR 30) and another ten today.

Unsuspecting members of the public were encouraged to pick the flowers up and take them home.

Bouquests were left in all manner of public places including on top of post boxes, on street steps and park benches.

Julia Russett, chair of Burbage Flower Club, said: “I know of three that have been found today but unfortunately I’ve not been at home to know how it’s gone.

“Last year was the first year for the National Association of Flower Arrangement Societies day and this year around 60,000 bouquets are being placed around the country between all the members.”

The idea sparked plenty of reaction on the Marlborough noticeboard facebook page with comments stating how good the idea was.

The Devizes Floral Arts Club also took part in the day.

The bouquets new owners are encouraged to post pictures and comments of them with their flowers to @NAFAS_flowers on Twitter using the hashtag #nafasthelonelybouquet
