GIRLGUIDE leader Susan Holt is preparing to take on the challenge of a lifetime to raise money for the movement.

Mrs Holt, a Unit Guider with Bishops Cannings Brownies, will travel to the Andes in October to complete the 4,200 metre-high ascent, along with 25 other Girlguiding supporters.

She said: “Girlguiding is an amazing organisation, providing girls and young women with a safe space to build confidence and self esteem in order for them to reach their potential. My own daughter’s have benefited enormously and I wanted to give something back.”

The five-day trek, between October 18 and 25, will take in well known landmarks such as Dead Women’s Pass and the Sun Gate.

Her target is £4,000, money that could support 50 disabled girls and young women attend an adventure camp.

Mrs Holt is most looking forward to meeting fellow supporters and experiencing the Andean scenery with her own eyes
