PARTYGOERS from across Wiltshire have helped people down on their luck by donating £500 to Devizes Foodbank.

Online party organiser Desperate Dancers handed the money to the foodbank at the headquarters of Gaiger Brothers in Devizes.

The group raised £1,100 through a cartoon themed party at the end of February, with £500 going to the foodbank and the rest going to national charity Medécins Sans Frontieres.

Mr Beamish said: “We are very grateful for this donation from Desperate Dancers.

“Whilst the charity has ample supplies of food we are always looking for cash to help with running the foodbank including transport, stationery, printing, and the upkeep of our vehicle.”

The online party company organise themed dance parties through the year in venues across Wiltshire, with profits raised from the events going to charity.

Louise Rennie, one of the organisers, said: “We always like to support a local charity along with a national one and the food bank helps a lot of people across the area.

“This is the second time we have given them a donation, the first was for £740 in 2013.”

Devizes Foodbank, which started in 2007, also covers Marlborough and hands out over 1000kg of food a month. For more information go to devizesfoodbank.co.uk
