DAD Adrian Burholt and two of his children are to take a leap of faith to help a homeless family in Mexico.

Mr Burholt and his student children Sam, 22, and Ellen, 20, will skydive at Netheravon on April 4 in a bid to raise more than £4,000 towards a trip to central America where they will build a new home for a Mexican family.

They will be joined on the trip by Mr Burholt's wife Katie and younger children Tom, 16, and Molly, 13, who are both pupils at St Augustine's, Trowbridge.

The family from Netherstreet, Bromham, will also be accompanied to Mexico on July 25 by three other families from the Devizes area.

Mr Burholt said: "We have been doing some joint fundraising but just the three of us are doing the skydive. I thought it would be good for our children to go on a trip like this where they see how some families in different parts of the world have a very different and much harder lives."

They have signed up with the charity Urban Saints who work with families who live in slum areas of Mexico.

Mr Burholt said: "Using only basic tools, we will leave behind a simple but secure home for a family who we don’t know yet. It is hard for us to imagine what it must be like to have no real home, or one without a front door and a roof that will keep the rain out, but we know that we are going to meet people who do live like this."

Mr Burholt, 49, a business consultant, and Mrs Burholt, 49, a phlebotomist at Southbroom surgery in Devizes, are also helping to organise a fundraising Mexican fiesta at Market Lavington Hall on April 25 from 7.30pm.

Mr Burholt's sky dive fundrasing has been boosted by his neighbour Andy Turner who runs Princeton Homes. He will also do the jump and will be sponsored by his company and colleagues to add to the Burholt's fund.

So far a total of £1,910 has been pledged. To make a donation go to https://mydonate.bt.com/fundraisers/adrianburholt1

Adrian Burholt

It’s me with my two eldest kids on Saturday 4th April as we leap out of a plane at some unearthly altitude to sky dive to raise money for the building materials for the house we’re going to build in July in Mexico for a family that currently live in a slum.

Along with three other families from our home town, and using only basic tools, we will leave behind a simple but secure home for a family who we don’t know yet. It is hard for us to imagine what it must be like to have no real home, or one without a front door and a roof that will keep the rain out, but we know that we are going to meet people who do live like this.

If you feel you can contribute, even just a few pounds, to help towards the build then thank you. All you need to do is visit our BT Donate page https://mydonate.bt.com/fundraisers/adrianburholt1

If you can’t I understand. I am acutely aware that there are constant demands on your cash and that some of you copied in this email have already given a lot (either to this or my South Sudan charity - Cress), or are planning to attend one of our local events. If this is the case then this email is just here to let you know what we’re up to. In any case please do keep us in your thoughts, especially as the three of us reach terminal velocity (why does that sound so bad?) hurtling towards the ground on 4th April!

With thanks from the Ground Force!

Help us make a difference as we go to build a home for a Mexican family next year.

We came across this amazing charity that takes families to Mexico to build simple & secure homes for families that live in shanty towns. Following a few, 'wouldn't that be a good idea to do' conversations we put our name down & in July 2015, off we go.We are fundraising for the materials & other project costs to enable us to build the house from scratch. It is hard for us to imagine what it must be like to have no real home or one without a front door & a roof that will keep the rain out but we know that we are going to meet people who do live like this. We are all going & so by sponsoring any one of us, in any small way, you will be helping a family be able to live like a family should.Thank you in advance for your generosity. From the labour force, Adrian, Katie, Sam, Ellen, Tom & Molly
