OFSTED inspectors arrived at troubled St Joseph's Roman Catholic primary school in Devizes today.

The school has been on alert for the arrival of the inspection team since the half term break. Governors are hoping the school will move up from its status of requiring improvement to good under the latest review.

But in the past few weeks there have been calls for head Sheila Jones to resign and Ofsted has referred complaints in connection with child safeguarding to Wiltshire Council.

A month ago the parent view on the Ofsted website had a total of 72 per cent of 57 people saying they would not recommend the school to another parent. A total of 67 per cent of parents disagreed that the school was well led and managed.

But yesterday the number of people responding had gone up to 99 and of those the number saying they would not recommend the school had gone down to 59 per cent. A total of 67 per cents still disagreed or strongly disagreed that the school was well led and managed.
