PING pong fans may soon be able to enjoy a game in Hillworth Park, Devizes, after the town council decided to look for grants to pay for a table tennis table.

A concrete table that can stand up to all weathers is likely to cost around £2,000 and up until now the price has put the council off pursuing the idea.

There would also be the extra cost of a base ideally in the same surface as the paths in the park.

But town councillors were told that they have received a number of requests for table tennis since the park was revamped three years ago.

Devizes Area Board is likely to pay half the cost and the town council is to look into other grant funding.
