Highways inspector Paul Snook hopes his venture into writing children’s fantasy books will put him on the road to success.
Mr Snook, 44, from Easterton, will be signing copies of his first novel, Children of Another Albion, at Devizes Books on Saturday from 9am to 10.15pm and noon to 5pm.
He started writing the book last year as a short story for his niece and nephew.
The book is written in the steampunk genre set in a post-apocalyptic future where steam power has remained in major use.
Mr Snook said: “It is a genre that has interested me as it is a way of writing about a fantasy world but without having monsters and aliens.”
His story, written under the pen name of J P Paradise, is based in the Victorian country of Albion Magna and is priced at £6.99.
