HARD slog by villagers in Rowde will be rewarded on Sunday when a new footpath is opened.
People who worked on clearing the route, which links the Rowdey Cow café with the Kennet and Avon towpath, will be the first to walk it.
They worked at weekends with Paul Millard, Wiltshire Council’s rights of way warden, to construct the new footpath.
Volunteers opened up gaps in hedges, put in kissing gates and bridges and cut back vegetation.
Parish council chairman Jackie Bawden said: “It is a great path.”
For the opening people will meet at the Marsh Lane end of the track at 1.45pm and walk to the Rowdey Cow.
