Devizes businessman Andy Trusler started his electrical firm with just one van and the front room of his home as his office.

Now he is celebrating 25 years of trading and has a workforce of more than 20 and a fleet of 14 vans.

To mark the silver anniversary of APT Electrics based at the Roundway Business Centre Mr Trusler has rebranded the company.

Instead of plain white vans with basic signwriting the new look vehicles have distinctive red lettering on an exciting burst of blue electrical mesh.

The company has also launched a new website, logo and letterhead.
Mr Trusler, 51, said: “I felt like now was the right time to have a rebrand. I am very proud of where we are today.

“There have been tough times of course, just before the recession hit we were doing extremely well and at our peak I probably employed up to 40 people, then there was a slump with the economic downturn, but now we have come out the other side more robust than ever and we are looking to the future with total confidence.

“I have a fantastic team behind me both in the office and outside doing the physical work.

“Wadworth Brewery was one of my very first customers 25 years ago and I am delighted that they are still clients today.

“I think that says a lot about the sort of service we offer.”
The main headquarters are in Devizes, but the firm now also has an office in York to serve the north of the country.

Mr Trusler, a former pupil of Devizes School, learned the electrical trade from scratch starting as an apprentice with Renelec. When he was in his 20s he decided to go it alone and set up business at his home in Victoria Road, Devizes.

He said: “I know what it is like to actually be out on the tools. I am not someone who just sits in an office and has no understanding of what it is like to be out there doing the work.”
The firm moved to its current premises just over six years ago. He said: “We moved to where we are now so we would have more room to expand and we’re now in a better position than ever to do just that.”

His operations manager John Beal has been with APT since the Victoria Road days and is in charge of the day to day running of the company. Mr Trusler’s brother Stuart, 42, is also part of the office staff.

Father of two Mr Trusler, a former chairman of Devizes Football Club, devotes a lot of time to his charity the Bag4Sport Foundation which helps raise money for grass root sport and up and coming athletes.
