There was glitz and glamour at the town hall in Devizes on Thursday when the Devizes Friends of Dorothy House hosted a charity fashion show that raised more than £1,000.

It was the group’s second fashion show to raise money for the hospice and winter clothing from Devizes shops Wardrobe, Upper Cut, M & Co and Country Casuals were shown on the catwalk.

The clothing from M & Co was modelled by the staff with the other shops using volunteer models.

Emily Knight, community fundraiser for Dorothy House, said: “It’s really great that the Devizes Friends give the hospice so much support and have worked tirelessly to make sure the evening was a success.”

David Fruen, the chairman of the fundraising group for the past six years, hosted the event along with Phil Dawson from Devizes community radio station Fantasy Radio, which provided the music and commentary.

Diane Smith, one of the organisers, said: “It has been a wonderful evening and we have raised a good amount of money for this worthy charity. It’s great that the people of Devizes support the hospice, you never know when you might need their services.”

The fundraising group were able to use the town hall free of charge making use of Devizes Town Council’s policy of letting local charities use the premises once a year for free.

Due to the success of the last two shows the organisers are planning to put on the event twice a year going forward, with charity shows in the spring and autumn.
