OWNERS of an unusual Maine Coon cat, which has been missing since bonfire night, fear he was scared away by a firework.

Owners Carol and Rob Ward of Wick Lane, Devizes, are also worried that the expensive breed of cat could have been stolen.

The couple have been out hunting for Fluff every day and put posters up around the area close to their home.

Fluff was bought as an 18th birthday present for the couple’s daughter Ashleigh, 22, but she left to go travelling in New Zealand two days before the cat disappeared.

Mrs Ward said: “I had to tell her and she was quite upset as he is really hers.

"Fluff is a real character and some dog like qualities such as sitting up to beg for food.

“I keep looking for his little face at the cat flap or at the window.”

The cat was last seen at 3pm on November 5.

Mrs Ward said it was usual for him to go out but he had never before not returned.

She said: “We keep thinking it could have been a firework that frightened him. Or it is possible that he was taken as they are an expensive breed.”

The couple bought him from a breeder in Melksham four year years ago when he was a kitten.

Charity Petlog is helping the couple spread appeal for information about the missing black and silver tabby which has a white chest, white front paws and white back legs.

Fluff is also microchipped. If anyone spots him they should contact Petlog on 0844 4633 996.
