A decision on the controversial plan to build 350 homes at Coate Bridge, near Devizes, which was expected today has been delayed for at least a week.

Devizes Town Council was told by email that the decision by a Government inspector from a planning appeal held in April would be running late.

At the appeal held in the Corn Exchange the inspector was told that the development by Mactaggart and Michel was not wanted by people living in the area.

The plan, which was opposed by Devizes town, Roundway and Bishops Cannings parish councils, was originally turned down by Wiltshire Council in March because it is outside the limits of development even though its own planning officers told councillors they could no longer defend this reason for refusal.
