Neston Primary School have welcomed a new headteacher replacing the retiring Linda Davies.

Pam Evans took charge of her first week at the school, in Church Rise, on Tuesday, January 3, as pupils returned following the Christmas break.

Mrs Evans joined Neston Primary School from Longleaze Primary School in Wootton Bassett.

She said: “I’ve really enjoyed my first week, everything has gone so well, everyone has been very supportive. The pupils, the staff and the parents are all so nice and I am looking forward to getting to know them more in the future.”

To ease the transition period Mrs Evans came to the school towards the end of last term, working with the outgoing Mrs Davies.

Gillian Pratt, chair of governors at Neston Primary School, said: “We welcome Mrs Evans who we know is very keen to work collaboratively with the children and all of us to further the standards already achieved through Mrs Davies’ leadership and to plan the next chapter in the school’s life.”

Mrs Davies announced she planned to retire from her role, of 13 years, at Neston Primary School in the summer of 2011, a year, which saw the school celebrate its 150th anniversary and feature on BBC’s One Show.

To mark Mrs Davies leaving, the school held a tea party in the school for the surrounding community on the last day of term on Friday, December 16.

Mrs Davies said: “After almost 22 years at the school, I would like to say thank you to everyone for all your support over the years.

“I know I will miss the children and the wonderful team of adults including staff, governors, Friends of Neston School – past and present – who all work tremendously hard to bring the best to the school.

“I’ll miss the hustle and bustle and all the excitement of the projects we have been involved in.”
