Amateur drama enthusiasts from two Wiltshire villages are preparing to take to the stage.
In Box the pantomime group is preparing for its 30th anniversary show while thespians in Cherhill will take part in their own pirate themed extravaganza next week.
Box Pantomime Group has been rehearsing several times a week since October in preparation for its celebratory show of Beauty and the Beast during February half term.
Director and choreographer, Lisa Whitemore, said: “In the 30 years we have been running, we have never repeated a single show as we have always managed to find some very good original scripts from NODA, the National Operatic and Dramatic Association.
“It has been lovely to do the original scripts.”
She said she expects some of the audience to be former group members, who will turn out to show their support for the anniversary.
Mrs Whitemore, of the Queen’s Head in Box, said: “We will be putting old pictures [of previous shows] up on display so that people can see them when they come to Selwyn Hall to see us.”
The pantomime will be at Selwyn Hall from Wednesday February 17 to Saturday February 20 with evening performances starting at 7.30pm and an additional matinee performance at 2pm on Saturday.
Tickets are on sale at £6.50 for adults and £4.50 for children, at Stop press newsagents in Box.
In Cherhill a cast of more than 40 people, ranging from the age of eight to 80, will take part in Prats of the Caribbean written by villager David Grafton.
His wife Celia, who is producing the show, believes the production will be a huge hit with audiences.
She said: “We were very surprised by the response we had from children wanting to take part – we have 24 children altogether and we had to split them in to two teams because there was no way we could cope with that many children on stage at once.
“Rehearsals have been going really well so far and we are looking forward to the performances.”
Performances take place from January 28 to 30 and February 4 to 6. For tickets call (01249) 815190.
