LEGO mad children from St Patricks Primary School in Corsham have had their dedication to the toy rewarded after they won two awards at the first Lego League Mindstorm competition.

The Lego Legends, which consist of ten pupils, clinched the Robot Performance tournament and were named joint winners of the Champions Award at the competition in Bristol last week.

The team of ten took their flood busting robot to the tournament, where they had to demonstrate its programming to judges, as well as performing several water-based activities including turning off a tap.

Teacher Aaron Laws said: "The children made our school incredibly proud; they worked together fantastically and enthusiastically as a team, supporting each other when things went wrong and when the pressure was on.

"They demonstrated great resilience throughout the day and were great examples of how you can be successful at anything if you work hard enough to achieve your goals.

"As a school we always teach the children about the importance of not giving up when things get tough, and our children did this and much, much more!

"They have made me a very proud teacher and I couldn't be happier with their achievements and I am very much looking forward to seeing how they get on in the National Finals on February 24."
