A MILITARY company committed to helping veterans and their spouses into work in Corsham has been recognised by the Ministry of Defence at a prestigious awards ceremony.

Staff at SaluteMyJob, based in the Corsham Institute, were presented with a silver award from the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme at Trinity Place, London on Monday for helping service leavers translate their military kills into ones recognised by civilian companies.

“SaluteMyJob helps ex-forces jobseekers translate their acquired military knowledge, skills and experience into the language of commercial employers," managing director Brigadier Andrew Jackson said. "Crucially, we also help them provide evidence of those skills and attributes, and therefore compete strongly for jobs.

“We work hard to support both our own ex-forces and reservist employees and the service leavers and employers who come to us for targeted support.

“Our vision is to join the dots between the hundreds of employers offering thousands of jobs to the thousands of ex-military people needing help to find the right job in the right organisation.”

The awards, which , were presented by MP Tobias Ellwood, the minister for Defence, People and Veterans, Commodore David Elford, Royal Navy regional commander for Eastern England, Brigadier Michael McGovern and Air Commodore Richard Barrow.

Mr Ellwood said: “This year’s winners are setting an example to other organisations, showing the wealth of skills and unique experiences the Armed Forces can bring to a wide range of industries. The winners should be proud of the work they are doing to support the Armed Forces Community.”
